Jose Mourinho returns to Valdebebas after 13 years ahead of Real Madrid preseason

Jose Mourinho returns to Valdebebas after 13 years ahead of Real Madrid preseason Following a highly turbulent season, Real Madrid have decided to embark on a new project with one of the more experienced coaches in Europe, Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese was appointed as the new manager of the Merengue team on 11 th June , and since that time has been working to begin this new adventure of his career. However, he has done this work remotely, taking advantage of new technology to assemble his team and work out his plans for the upcoming preseason. This preseason is set to begin on 13 th July. A few days before that start of preseason training, Diario AS notes that Mourinho returned to Valdebebas, after a gap of 13 years, on Friday. In this first appearance of his second stint as the coach of the Los Blancos, he visited the club facilities, and for the first time, greeted the staff that is going to accompany him going forward face to face. The new manager also made some statements on this occasion. Thus, he outlined the main objectives he would be looking to reach in this new chapter of his career: “Words aren’t enough… because this is like a mission. It’s not about worrying about myself or whether I’ll win more or less. I’m here to help everyone become better—players, staff… To create a culture of hard work, responsibility, ambition, and something I know very well: the responsibility and the honor of working for Real Madrid. I really like that concept.” “It’s not about working at Real Madrid; it’s about working for Real Madrid. And it’s with that sense of mission that I’m here.” Although this was his first appearance at Valdebebas, he ensured that he has already been working for the last several days: “We’ve been working very hard. It’s not as if I arrived today and everything started. We’ve been working for a long time with the club’s structure at different levels. Nowadays, you can work without being physically here because technology helps us enormously. So today was really about arriving and reviewing everything that’s already been done and everything we still have to do.” The Portuguese manager was looking forward to meeting his players, both first team players and youngsters from the academy: “We have to make the most of the next two weeks with a positive attitude because I’d like to have all the players here. It’s time to get to know the boys I’ll be working with and for them to get to know me. During pre-season, many players from Castilla will also be here, and I enjoy taking part in and helping with their development. Here we are, and eventually some world champions will join us. I come with great confidence, with the feeling that I love this club and… Hala Madrid, and nothing more!” As far as his staff is concerned, Mourinho would continue working with the same team that he had at Benfica, i.e., Joao Tralhao, Pedro Machado, Roberto Merella, Nuno Santos, and Antonio Dias. However, one important change would be the addition of Sami Khedira, who is going to be his assistant manager. Jose Mourinho would have to start the preseason with only a few first team players, but these players would gradually rejoin him as they end their vacations and World Cup journeys. Hopefully, this new chapter in Real Madrid history would bring a lot of glory and immortal memories for both the club, the players, and the coach.
