Barcelona’s latest signing won’t impact pursuit of La Liga sensation – Romano Barcelona have moved quickly to secure a move for talented German attacker Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund. Much like the Anthony Gordon deal that they pulled off earlier this summer, there was little to no news about Barça’s interest before they submitted the first bid. Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano gave his patented ‘Here we go’ for the deal earlier this week, with the 24-year-old now on his way to Barcelona. The Catalans have agreed a deal worth €22 million plus €7 million in add-ons to sign the Bundesliga attacker. According to the transfer expert, Barcelona still very much want to sign Alvarez and will go all in for the Atletico Madrid striker. The German’s signing does not change that stance, with the Catalans continuing to view a top-class number nine as a priority alongside their new attacking addition. Adeyemi, a rapid, direct forward capable of playing across the front line, addresses Barcelona’s need for pace and versatility in wide areas. Alvarez, on the other hand, represents the central striker Hansi Flick has been crying out for since Robert Lewandowski’s departure, meaning the two deals are seen as complementary rather than mutually exclusive. Romano reiterated that the situation between the two clubs remains tense, with Atletico unwilling to sell Alvarez to a direct rival. Barcelona have already seen an offer rejected, and relations between the clubs have grown increasingly strained amid the Argentine’s public admission that he wants to leave. Yet despite the obstacles, Barcelona’s determination to land Alvarez has not wavered. The saga is likely to continue until the very end of this transfer window, as Barcelona continue to play the waiting game.
