Liverpool have a huge problem on their hands, it could ruin their title hopes

Liverpool have a huge problem on their hands, it could ruin their title hopes Liverpool have a lot of things to figure out before the 2026-27 season kicks off. At the moment, they've only signed one player this summer which is far from ideal. That's because there are several areas among their ranks that could do with a player or two adding to them after their poor performances last season. Without these new faces, it's hard to see how the Anfield outfit will perform any better and how they'll finish higher in the table, let alone challenge for the Premier League title. Indeed, several rumours seem to be emerging every couple of days but, this latest news could massively hinder the Reds' progress and their hopes for the future. Tottenham have not contacted AC Milan about the transfer of Rafael Leao Tottenham have already been one of the Premier League's busiest teams this summer. Roberto de Zerbi has spent well over £200 million on new arrivals after they narrowly avoided relegation to the Championship. It's clear that Spurs are looking to avoid this situation ever again so, at the moment, they seem to be having a massive clear out. This has led to links with a whole host of players including Liverpool's Cody Gakpo . Recently, talk about the Dutchman's future has died down but, after a recent update from Fabrizio Romano, it feels like this is the closest he's been to exiting. "There are no negotiations between Tottenham and his agent regarding Rafa Leao, nor between Tottenham and Milan," he shared via his YouTube channel . Cody Gakpo could be the next player on Tottenham's shortlist Ever since Harry Kane left Spurs, the North London outfit have struggled to get back to their best. Indeed, they may have won the Europa League during the 2024-25 campaign but, at the time, that felt like pure fluke. The number of injuries that the club have suffered over the last few years is mental and is one of the main reasons behind their downfall. Without a good attack, teams aren't be able to get the goals they need to bring three points home. And, since Gakpo has plenty of Premier League experience and has been an important player for Liverpool ever since he joined back in 2023, it's not hard to understand why Tottenham would want him. Indeed, Manchester City's Savinho is another option on their radar but, since the North London outfit seem to be splashing the cash, there's no reason why they can't sign both. Gakpo's form was far from ideal last term so, for most fans, selling him wouldn't be that much of an issue but, if Liverpool don't end up replacing him, their title hopes would be massively affected due to their lack of firepower. Here's hoping that Andoni Iraola and Richard Hughes can either keep the Dutchman at the club or target one or two players to fill the void.
