Spanish defender talks about his growing chemistry with Barcelona star Lamine Yamal: ‘Things are going really well with him’ Few players have developed a stronger understanding with Barcelona star Lamine Yamal during the FIFA World Cup than Pedro Porro.  After beginning the tournament on the bench, the Spain international has cemented his place in Luis de la Fuente’s starting XI and has become one of the most important pieces alongside the teenage winger. Speaking to Mundo Deportivo before Spain’s World Cup semi-final against France, the Tottenham defender explained how that connection has developed both on and off the pitch. It builds up over the course of matches, through playing alongside him.  “It’s normal for the first few matches to be tougher because I play in England too, and I don’t play with him there.  “Everything’s a bit harder at first, but it’s also about understanding what he needs in each match.  “ In the last match against Belgium , the focus was more on defence because Doku was playing.  “In the first half, we managed to pull off that move that led to our first goal. It’s more about how the match is going, what he needs and what the team needs.” More on the topic Porro also revealed that their understanding is strengthened long before kick-off, with regular conversations helping both players stay on the same page throughout matches. Things are going really well with him; we have a great relationship.  “It’s getting better and better, which is important for him, for the team and for me. I’m really happy about that.” Lastly, when asked what those conversations involve, Porro preferred to keep the details private, adding, “Just aspects of the game, what he needs depending on what the opposition are doing. I’m not going to say anything, but that’s what we need during the match,” he concluded.
