Official | Gideon Mensah leaves Auxerre to join Koln Gideon Mensah (27) has left AJ Auxerre to join FC Koln, it was confirmed on Saturday. The Ghana international has joined on a free transfer. Mensah joined Auxerre from Red Bull Salzburg back in 2022. Over the course of four seasons, he would go on to make 114 appearances for the Bourgogne club. During his time at the club, he was a major actor in the club’s promotion back to Ligue 1 back in 2024. He remained a key player for  L’AJA  in France’s top-flight, as his performances helped keep Christophe Pélissier’s side in the top flight for the past two seasons. His contract was up this summer and he has opted to leave. He will start a new adventure in Germany. A two-year deal with FC Koln has already been signed. The Ghana international is coming off the back of some strong performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He notably excelled as Ghana kept a clean sheet against England in the Group Stage.
