David Ornstein of The Athletic reported that all parties are in contact as United attempt to finalise a deal for the Belgium international. The report added that Tielemans is keen to make the move to Old Trafford. United had also been pursuing Atalanta midfielder Ederson, but that deal is currently off although the club could revisit their interest later in the summer transfer window. Tielemans, 29, joined Villa from Leicester City on a free transfer in 2023 and has established himself as a key figure in Unai Emery's midfield. The Belgian international has previously played for Anderlecht, Monaco and Leicester, where he scored the winning goal in the 2021 FA Cup final against Chelsea. If completed, the move would strengthen Michael Carrick's midfield options ahead of the new Premier League season. Neither Manchester United nor Aston Villa have commented publicly on the reported negotiations.
