Atletico Madrid request Barcelona forward to end his current contract and join them for free in 2027 – report Ferran Torres’ future at Barcelona has become one of the club’s biggest unresolved issues this summer, and a fresh report suggests Atletico Madrid are already planning for the possibility of signing the Spain international once his contract expires.  According to RAC1, as relayed by Mundo Deportivo , Atletico sporting director Mateu Alemany has opened discussions with the player’s representatives over a long-term proposal that would see the forward remain at Camp Nou for the final year of his current deal before moving to the Metropolitano as a free agent. The development comes at a time when Barcelona are trying to clarify the Spaniard’s future following Karim Adeyemi’s arrival .  While Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with Ferran in recent weeks, Atletico’s strategy is something entirely different. The proposal outlined in the report would allow the winger to complete the 2026/27 season with Barcelona before joining Atletico the following year, with the promise of a signing bonus instead of a transfer fee. The approach is significant given Mateu Alemany’s previous relationship with the player.  In fact, it was Alemany who played a leading role in bringing Ferran Torres to Barcelona from Manchester City in 2022, and that connection is believed to have reopened communication between the two parties. Negotiations, however, have proved more complicated than expected, as the player’s salary expectations have slowed progress. That uncertainty has naturally fuelled speculation across Spain and France, with several clubs monitoring developments while waiting to see whether renewal talks move forward.
