Just hours after it was first mentioned as a possibility, the deal bringing Lucas Digne to PSG has been given the “here we go” stamp of approval by Fabrizio Romano. The Italian transfer guru says that the “verbal agreement” between the France international and the Parisians is done. There is no negotiation necessary with Aston Villa because PSG are paying the 32 year old’s release clause – which Romano says is less than €10m. Digne has accepted he will be Nuno Mendes’ backup, which should still mean plenty of games given how much Luis Enrique likes to rotate his team for league fixtures. As well as being an experienced and useful backup, Digne’s leadership and role in the dressing room with France is seen as an important part of his appeal. PSG complete Digne deal to get squad tweaking underway It’s been a slow start to the summer for PSG, who are now seeming to finally get into gear. There is still plenty of work to be done on this squad, with a number of squad players wanted around Europe, and the big summer addition (possibly Yan Diomande) yet to materialise. In other news… The first whispers about this deal only arrived earlier today , when it became clear that Digne had the release clause and was willing to return to Paris as Mendes’ backup. Ibrahim Mbaye continues to be on the shortlist of a number of Premier League teams, and PSG may be forced into a sale if the winger really pushes for one.
