Lens look to re-sign Juventus’ Lois Openda amid competition from Coventry City As RC Lens prepare to return to the UEFA Champions League, they are looking to bring back one of their former forwards, Lois Openda (26), as per a report from Foot Mercato . It was an underwhelming season in Turin for Openda, who in 37 games in all competitions, netted just twice. Since leaving RC Lens in 2023 for €40m, he has netted 41 goals in 93 games for RB Leipzig. At Lens, during the season in which Les Sang et Or finished just one point behind eventual champions Paris Saint-Germain, Openda scored 21 goals in 42 games. His form at the Stade Bollaert took Lens into the UCL, but he did not hang around for their European campaign. The Belgium international may do so this time. Les Sang et Or’s sporting director, Jean-Louis Leca, is pushing hard for his arrival, Foot Mercato understands. However, Openda’s salary represents a major obstacle. Juventus would have to pay at least a part of it, if a deal were to be done. There is competition for the forward’s signature, too, notably from newly promoted Premier League side Coventry City.
