Not what we want to hear: Liverpool consider controversial £6m deal
Not what we want to hear: Liverpool consider controversial £6m deal Liverpool are reportedly open to a controversial deal this summer. It's one we'd rather didn't go ahead. Liverpool are currently weighing up offers for players as the market prepares to go into overdrive. The World Cup will be over this time next week, freeing up a lot of players for business. And that includes the merry-go-round for those not at the World Cup. Liverpool, for instance, appear to have a massive decision to make over Trey Nyoni . Nyoni has been waiting for a regular chance at Liverpool for some time now, but it's unclear if he'll ever actually get it. Arne Slot was certainly hesitant to use the teenager in anything but the League Cup or redundant Premier League minutes. Will Andoni Iraola be different? We hope so but with Nyoni in particular, we may never find out. On The Minute reports that there's growing interest in him from the Championship. Swansea City and Blackburn Rovers are both eager to sign the midfielder, believing Liverpool would consider a £6m sale. The report suggests Nyoni really could be available at that price - one that would prove controversial. That's Liverpool's own fault, though - they just haven't given Nyoni the development time that a player of his talent needs. Jurgen Klopp was willing to give him opportunities even as a 16-year-old. The Reds' development process post-Klopp has been awful, however, and now they may end up deciding that £6m is worth it for one of their biggest talents. Signing off on that deal would feel like an absolute defeat, make no mistake. But then if Liverpool still aren't going to play him, they have little choice in the matter. Nyoni's future is a big decision this summer and one the club must get right. There is an elite player in there if the right environment is found. And we still believe that can be Anfield.
