Burnley sign experienced forward Wellings Burnley have completed the signing of experienced forward Charlie Wellings on a free transfer. The Clarettes announced news of the deal via a post on their official club website earlier today. The 28-year-old joins Burnley off the back of a two-year spell with Nottingham Forest. She has signed a one-year contract at Turf Moor with the option of a further year. Wellings was a FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division winner with Nottingham Forest in 2024/2025. She netted 30 goals across her two years Trentside. The forward previously played Barclays Women’s Super League football with former clubs Birmingham City, Bristol City and Reading. She scored in an Adobe Women’s FA Cup final for Birmingham City back in 2017. After signing on with Burnley, Wellings said “I’m very excited to be here. Having been in talks for quite a while as well, I’m happy to get it over the line and I’m looking forward to getting started. “The ambition of the club shows through – we’re in and around the same facilities as the men’s team every day, which are unbelievable. “I’ve had a few battles against Burnley over the years, and it’s always been a good game. I’m happy to be on this side of things now. “I’m excited to get back on the grass and play football. Pre-season’s always tough, but hopefully I can kick on as much as I can.” Burnley are putting together a strong squad ahead of their debut season in Barclays WSL2.
