2026 World Cup Final: Spain is favored against Lionel Messi's Argentina
The 2026 World Cup keeps on delivering iconic games and moments, as Lionel Messi’s Argentina team came back from a 1-0 deficit against Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham and England on Wednesday afternoon to win 2-1 and book a spot in Sunday’s final against Spain. The defending champions scored two goals in less than 10 minutes to break English hearts yet again and deny England an opportunity to win the country’s first World Cup since 1966. Oddsmakers have installed Messi & Co. as the underdog again. England was a slight favorite in the semifinal against Argentina and Spain will be an even larger one on Sunday afternoon. Spain opened as a -175 favorite to lift the trophy with Argentina a +125 underdog at BetMGM. At the prediction market Kalshi, Spain has a 58% chance to win, with Argentina at 42%. Spain dominated France in a 2-0 victory on Tuesday afternoon to claim the first spot in the 2026 World Cup Final, thanks to a Mikel Oyarzabal penalty kick in the first half and a Pedro Porro goal in the second half. France didn’t look like the same team that had cruised through much of the tournament. The final will be played at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday at New York/New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
