Newcastle United sign Brighton & Hove Albion defender McLauchlan Newcastle United have completed the signing of Brighton & Hove Albion defender Rachel McLauchlan on a permanent deal. WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Magpies this morning. It has been reported that Newcastle United have paid an undisclosed fee to secure the player’s services. The 29-year-old makes the move to Tyneside after spending the last two years with Brighton & Hove Albion. McLaughlan made 48 appearances for The Seagulls in which she scored two goals. The defender was an Adobe Women’s FA Cup runner-up with the Sussex side last season. On the international stage, McLaughlan has been capped by Scotland on 37 occasions. After joining Newcastle United, McLaughlan said “I’m really excited to get started. I’m raring to go, it’s a big opportunity and I’m looking forward to meeting everyone. “I want to come here and help the team get promoted. Tanya [Oxtoby] spoke so highly of what the club wants to do and that was a big motivation for me to come here.” McLaughlan is Newcastle United’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window.
