Spain are playing very well, while Argentina have had to battle through difficult moments, but they have that fighting spirit that always keeps them alive,” Deco noted. Special Praise for Messi Asked which side he would be supporting, Deco avoided making a clear choice but had nothing but admiration for Lionel Messi. The pair shared a dressing room during their playing days at Barcelona, and Deco admitted it is impossible not to appreciate what the Argentine continues to achieve. “I’ll always support my own people, but my people are everywhere,” he explained. “Leo will always be one of ours. While praising Messi, Deco also acknowledged the large Barcelona contingent representing Spain. “On one side there’s Leo, and on the other there are our young Barça players. It’s not easy to choose. That’s why we’ll simply enjoy the match. I think it’s going to be a spectacular final.” Once the World Cup concludes, Deco is expected to return to Barcelona to oversee Karim Adeyemi’s official presentation and continue shaping Hansi Flick’s squad ahead of the new season.
