Bagnoli, coach of the miraculous Verona Scudetto winners, has died at 91 Osvaldo Bagnoli, the coach who achieved the most improbable Scudetto in Italian football history with Hellas Verona in 1985, has died at the age of 91. He was a player who won the Serie A title at Milan, but became an adopted citizen of Verona, which is where he died today after a long illness. That team was known as the Verona dei Miracoli (the miraculous side), shocking everyone to take their first and so far only Scudetto. They also reached the Coppa Italia Final in 1984, a prelude to what was to follow a year later at the Stadio Bentegodi. After nine years at Verona, concluding with relegation in 1990, Bagnoli went on to coach the Genoa side who reached the UEFA Cup semi-final after beating Liverpool at Anfield, then finished his career at Inter in 1994.
