Sunderland Are Facing Tough Competition For This La Liga Midfielder: Good Option For Le Bris? In a recent report , Nos Diario stated that Sunderland are facing tough competition for Celta Vigo midfielder Ilaix Moriba. It has been mentioned that the Black Cats would have to compete with Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest and Hull City in the race to sign the Guinean talent in this transfer window. Moriba’s Impressive Form In La Liga Moriba had a solid campaign at the Spanish club recently after he put in a handful of impressive displays for them in the middle of the park. The 23-year-old scored two times and picked up four assists in 48 matches for Celta Vigo last season in various competitions. The Guinean talent is currently one of the most talented central midfielders in La Liga. Hence, it is no surprise that Sunderland are hoping to land him later this year. His current contract at the Spanish club will run out in the summer of 2029. Thus, the Black Cats would have to make a convincing offer if they want to recruit him later this year. Moriba loves a tackle and can time his challenges well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when required and can shoot the ball with venom from long range. The Spanish sensation has got the eye to play some decisive passes in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball as well. Moriba can even chip in by scoring and creating the odd goal for his team. However, it remains to be seen whether he can maintain his good form in the Premier League if the Black Cats manage to sign him this summer. We can expect Moriba to add more quality to Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris’ frontline. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team place at the Stadium of Light next season. At 23, Moriba will only get better with each year. Hence, he would be a great option for the Wearside club to pursue before the end of this transfer window. However, Le Bris would have to be patient with his progress before he can get the best out of him at Sunderland.
