Salah’s lawyer denies rumours that his client has reached a ‘verbal agreement’ to join Besiktas

Salah’s lawyer denies rumours that his client has reached a ‘verbal agreement’ to join Besiktas Mohamed Salah’s lawyer, Ramy Abass, has denied reports claiming that the former Liverpool forward is close to joining Besiktas. Journalist Santi Aouna has claimed Besiktas have reached a verbal agreement to sign the Egyptian forward. According to the report, Salah is set to sign a one-year contract with the option of a further 12 months and will earn around €12 million (£10m) including bonuses. However, Abbas appeared to cast doubt on those claims. He wrote on X : “I personally do not know where Mohamed will play next season. What does that tell you?” Salah could still join Besiktas Aouna’s report has been corroborated by reliable Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncouglu. However, Sabuncouglu claims that Salah and Besiktas are still in negotiations over contract duration and image rights . Hence, Abass’s statement suggests that the deal is as advanced as Aouna reported, rather than completely ruling out a move to Besiktas. Besiktas are looking to close the gap on Turkish league defending champions Galatasaray by signing proven players. They have earmarked Salah as target after completing a deal for Leandro Trossard from Arsenal. Salah announced his decision to leave Liverpool in March after falling out with former Reds head coach Arne Slot, despite having a year left on his contract. The 34-year-old endured a difficult campaign last season, scoring just 12 goals and providing 10 assists in 41 games across all competitions. Salah has also been likened to a move to Major League Soccer, with Sporting Kansas City considering a move for the veteran forward.
