According to Mundo Deportivo , the 19-year-old has caught the attention of Flick and his coaching staff after proving he can operate at a high level in multiple positions.  Although Espart was introduced to Barcelona’s first team as a right-back last season, the German coach is well aware that midfield is the youngster’s natural position, and one where he has continued to excel. His versatility comes at an important time for Barcelona, particularly with Frenkie de Jong currently sidelined through injury and Flick looking to maintain depth across the squad ahead of another demanding campaign. Operating in the centre of the pitch, the Barcelona academy graduate became one of Spain’s standout performers, scoring twice and earning a place in the tournament’s Team of the Tournament.  Now, according to the report, Flick monitored Espart’s progress throughout the competition and while the Barcelona manager has already trusted him as a right-back, the tournament offered further evidence that the teenager can provide quality in a completely different role. The idea is that if Espart is to leave in search of regular first-team football, a loan would be considered far more likely than a permanent transfer, allowing Barcelona to continue overseeing his development.
