Morgan Rogers to Chelsea in $157.2 million transfer - Report

Chelsea have gone big to sign Morgan Rogers, with a report saying they will spend over $157 million on the Aston Villa playmaker. Per David Ornstein , Chelsea have agreed a $157.2 million transfer fee with Villa for the England international. Rogers, 23, is currently at the 2026 World Cup with England as he started in the semifinal defeat against Argentina and set up Anthony Gordon's goal with a textbook piece of quality in the final third. Arsenal were said to be in the hunt for Rogers but Chelsea have reportedly won the race and have offered him a six-year contract, with the option of an extra year. Rogers to Chelsea is a very good fit Comfortable playing out wide or centrally, Rogers has surged to stardom over the last few years, helping Villa win the Europa League and qualify for the UEFA Champions League and he's been consistently excellent with his driving runs, great control on the ball and always popping up with big goals and assists. Rogers playing for new Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso as one of his central playmakers that have the freedom to drift out wide makes so much sense. This is a very good fit and after his incredible journey through the lower leagues with plenty of loans, and then thriving under Unai Emery's intense environment at Villa, Rogers has the personality and resilience to deliver at Chelsea. He will now be linking up with his good friend Cole Palmer at Chelsea, as the duo were at Manchester City together as youngsters. They both have the ice-cold celebration down to a tee as their trademark, and Chelsea's fans will be hoping it will be very chilly at Stamford Bridge for many years to come.
