World Cup prize money: How much did England earn for finishing third over France?
England is heading home from the 2026 FIFA World Cup with the bronze medal — and an extra $2 million. England's wild 6-4 victory over France in Saturday's third-place match secured a $29 million prize, while fourth-place France will receive $27 million. As FIFA announced in December, the largest World Cup ever also features the largest prize pool in tournament history. A total of $655 million will be shared among the 48 teams, with payouts ranging from $9 million to $50 million depending on how far each nation advanced. Now, only Sunday's final remains. The winner between Spain and defending champion Argentina will earn $50 million, while the runner-up will take home $33 million. The U.S. men earned $16 million for reaching the Round of 16. That prize money is split with the U.S. women's team as per the collective bargaining agreements between U.S. Soccer and both teams in 2022 . The CBAs state that 80% of the money is split between the men's and women's players ($246,153.85 per player) who make the World Cup rosters (the women still have to qualify for the 2027 Women's World Cup). The remaining 20% goes to U.S. Soccer. Here's the breakdown of how much money each of the 48 teams that took part in the 2026 World Cup will take home.
