Real Madrid to be represented in eighth consecutive World Cup final
Real Madrid to be represented in eighth consecutive World Cup final Spain and Argentina have made their way to the World Cup 2026 final after beating France and England respectively in the semi-finals of the competition. Kylian Mbappe, Aurelien Tchouameni, Ibrahima Konate, and Jude Bellingham were all eliminated at the penultimate stage of the competition , but one Real Madrid player has still made his way to the final, i.e., Marc Cucurella. Although he is yet to join the Merengue club, he was announced as a new Real Madrid player before Spain started their World Cup campaign, and throughout the duration of the competition, he has been registered as a Los Blancos player. As Diario AS has noted, Cucurella’s qualification means that Real Madrid will be represented for the 8 th consecutive World Cup final. The last time that no Merengue player participated in the final game of the top international competition was back in 1994, when Brazil beat Italy. There were no Los Blancos players in the final of the previous edition either. In 1998, Christian Karembeu made his way to the final with the French national team, and faced Brazil in the final. In the following edition, Roberto Carlos represented the Merengue club in the final, while in 2006, Zinedine Zidane did the same. The 2010 World Cup final had the highest number of Real Madrid players involved, i.e., 5, as Iker Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Xabi Alonso, Alvaro Arbeloa, and Raul Albiol, all were in the Spanish team’s ranks for this game. In 2014, Sami Khedira and Angel di Maria played on the opposing sides as Germany and Argentina faced off in the final. The same happened in 2018, when Raphael Varane and Luka Modric played with France and Croatia in the ultimate game of that year’s World Cup. Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga then went to the final, again with France, in 2022, and played Argentina in the final. Tonight, it will be Marc Cucurella who will be representing Real Madrid in the World Cup final, and hopefully, the Spaniard will end up on the winning side in this match.
