Derry beat Tolka to progress to third round of FAI Cup

Irish FAI Cup Derry City 3 - 0 Tolka Rovers FT Derry City progressed to the third round of the FAI Cup after a comfortable 3-0 victory over Tolka Rovers at the Brandywell. The Candystripes were aiming to bounce back from European disappointment after their Europa League qualifying campaign came to an end when CSKA Sofia were the victors of a match marred by trouble in the stands on Thursday night. The home side dominated possession from the first whistle and were denied an early goal by the woodwork. However, they would take the lead on 29 minutes when Adam O'Reilly's effort struck the post and found the bottom corner. Chances remained at a premium with Derry extending their lead with five minutes to go when Ellis Chapman netted his second goal since joining Tiernan Lynch's side from Shelbourne. Chapman continued his impressive form and scored again just before the final whistle to ensure it was Derry's name in the draw for the next round. The draw for the next round will take place on Tuesday, 21 July.
