Santiago Bernabeu set for a summer glow up before Real Madrid start the new season – report After two consecutive seasons without a major trophy, Real Madrid are staring at an important season ahead, one where they must dominate Spanish football again. The redevelopment of the Bernabeu is all but complete, but the club are keen to add a few finishing touches while the stadium is not in use. Chief among the planned changes is the installation of the venue’s new name on the side facing the Paseo de la Castellana, a project set to be completed in the coming weeks. It is worth recalling that Real Madrid rebranded the stadium from the Santiago Bernabeu to simply the Bernabeu last November, during the week of the NFL game held at Chamartin. The change formed part of a wider strategy to establish the venue as an internationally recognisable brand capable of hosting elite sporting and entertainment events. When football officially returns to the stadium for the 2026-27 campaign, fans will be greeted by an enormous new banner on the exterior of the ground. The club’s name and crest are also set to be displayed in the Plaza de Sagrados Corazones, in the area in front of the Bernabeu Market. The exterior work is not the only project on the agenda. Real Madrid are currently installing LED banners in the third tier of the stadium, an addition that will be finished before the start of the league season and further enhance the matchday experience. The club have also been busy addressing strategic matters, including the situation surrounding the famous and much-discussed Sky Bar, which Real Madrid recovered through legal means.
