Ipswich Town agree £20m deal for Abdul Fatawu as promoted Premier League side close in on double signing Ipswich Town have verbally agreed a deal worth around £20 million to sign Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu, according to Ben Jacobs . The newly promoted Premier League club hopes to complete the transfer in time for its pre-season training camp in Spain. The Ghana international is now awaiting a medical, which is expected to take place next week, before the move can be finalised. Ipswich are keen to have Fatawu available for part of their preparations in La Manga, where Gary O’Neil’s squad will continue building towards their Premier League return. The squad departs for Spain on Monday, but the club remain optimistic the winger will link up with his new teammates during the camp. Fatawu arrives after an impressive Championship campaign in which he registered nine goals and seven assists across 44 league appearances. His pace, creativity and direct style made him one of the division’s standout attacking players, convincing Ipswich to shell out big money to sign him. The Tractor Boys are also on the verge of completing a move for Dutch goalkeeper Kayne Oevlen from FC Volendam. The 22-year-old is set to join in a deal worth up to £4.25 million, made up of an initial £3.4 million fee with a further £850,000 in performance-related add-ons. Oevlen, who stands at 6ft6in, is undergoing his medical before signing a five-year contract. Ipswich hope the young goalkeeper will also be able to join the squad in La Manga once the formalities are completed. Oevlen is viewed as a long-term project rather than an immediate first-choice goalkeeper. He will provide competition and depth for O’Neil. Ipswich Town have been busy in the summer transfer window, picking up striker Emerson from Toulouse. They have also signed Chuba Akpom from Ajax. Both men will be expected to deliver the goals, while the Tractor Boys added centre-half Cedric Kipre to shore up the rearguard.
