Cowan looks to add firepower to Shrews squad

The League Two club have made eight signings this summer, including Luton striker Joe Gbode on loan and former Cheltenham forward Josh Davison on a free. But the Shrews head coach said any further deals could depend on outgoings, with both midfielder Sam Clucas and defender Tom Anderson up for sale. The Shrews can only sign free agents and loan players after being placed under a transfer fee ban by the EFL until the end of the current transfer window. "Some of the transfer-listed players need to move on at some point which they're eager to do," he told BBC Radio Shropshire. "They want to play football matches and that will enable us to get in another striker and another number 10. "So we are looking to add, but we have to be patient. We have to get the timing right and obviously we have to balance the books." "We're in conversations with them [Stoke] at the moment and hoping to close in on him but, again, we have to balance the books.
