Barcelona’s stars including Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, Dani Olmo, Pedri, Eric Garcia and Ferran Torres were all involved in the game, with the winger scoring the tournament-winning goal in extra-time. Of all of Spain’s players, however, special focus has been placed on the young duo of Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi, both of whom have been undisputed starters for the national team in the World Cup. Ferdinand’s praise Former England international and renowned football pundit Rio Ferdinand heaped praise on Spain’s team and young talent after their crowning as World Champions last night. Taking to social media, he made it very clear how special Barcelona’s teenage duo of Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi were for the national team. “Lamine Yamal has now won a World Cup, Euros for Spain & 2 League Titles for Barcelona…,” he began on the winger. “Pau Cubarsí has now won a World Cup & 2 League titles for Barcelona…,” the Manchester United legend added. In awe of their quality at such a young age, Ferdinand concluded saying, “Both 19 years old – the future is bright for Spanish Football. Wow! Congratulations.” Deserving of all the praise Of all of Spain’s match winners who played a key role across the event, Yamal and Cubarsi have been shown a major share of the spotlight and have received more praise than others. Yamal may not have had the best campaign in terms of goals and assists over the past month, but his work rate and ability to drag defenders wide was critical in Spain’s attacking moves. His presence on the right wing was crucial for their eventual championship. Cubarsi, meanwhile, had a stellar campaign in defence as he conceded just one goal in the entire tournament and deservingly won the Best Young Player award.
