Crystal Palace midfielder Cato sustains ACL injury
Crystal Palace midfielder Cato sustains ACL injury Crystal Palace midfielder My Cato has sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury. The Eagles confirmed the news via a post on their official club website yesterday. The 24-year-old Swedish international sustained the injury during Crystal Palace’s pre-season programme. She is now expected to miss the majority of the 2026/2027 season. Cato joined Crystal Palace from Swedish OBOS Damallsvenskan club IFK Norrköping in summer 2024. The player was unable to keep The Eagles in the Barclays Women’s Super League in her first season in South London but she won an immediate promotion back to the top tier with the club last term. Cato made 18 appearances for Crystal Palace in Barclays WSL2 last season as the club claimed the second automatic promotion place on the final day. Cato’s injury is a real blow for Crystal Palace with the club’s Barclays Women’s Super League return now being just weeks away. The Eagles will be hoping to put up a stronger fight than they did in 2024/2025 and Cato would surely have played a significant part if fit. The player will now have to cheer her teammates on from the sidelines for the foreseeable future. Further updates on Cato’s recovery and rehabilitation will be provided in due course.
