Alessandro Bastoni: Simone Inzaghi wants to reunite with Inter star at Al-Hilal

Alessandro Bastoni: Simone Inzaghi wants to reunite with Inter star at Al-Hilal As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio , Saudi Pro League heavyweights Al-Hilal have emerged as surprise suitors of Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni. The Nerazzurri were seemingly comfortable in the knowledge that they had thwarted away outside interest in Bastoni. Barcelona were touted as his biggest admirers, but they were deemed in no financial position to bring forth a package that could persuade Inter. Things further took a turn for the worse when it was confirmed at the start of the month that the Italy international was under investigation by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Milan as part of its on going investigation of escort agency based in Cinisello Balsamo over operating a minor prostitution ring. No charges have been brought forth at the time of writing, and the player has the club’s public support, though the noise may play a part in Inter considering their options over Bastoni’s future. He could also find support at Al-Hilal, where his former coach Simone Inzaghi is keen to reunite with him. Inter’s hand may be forced There are two factors at play that could convince Inter to sell Bastoni this summer. They have been steadfast about not wanting to let him leave, but every player has a price, especially if someone were to present an offer too good to refuse; if there’s one part of the footballing world currently capable to making such offers, it’s Saudi Arabia. Moreover, if circumstances over Bastoni’s investigation took a turn for the worse, then regardless of the charges Inter may end up needing to move him on as a reputational move more than a footballing one. Once deemed untouchable, it turns out Bastoni may yet be destined for an exit from San Siro this summer. Anshuman Joshi | GIFN
