Huddersfield sign Excelsior winger Fernandes

Derensili Sanches Fernandes made 63 appearances for Excelsior Rotterdam during his time with the club [Getty Images] Huddersfield Town have signed winger Derensili Sanches Fernandes from Dutch Eredivisie side Excelsior Rotterdam on a four-year deal. The 25-year-old Dutchman is Huddersfield's fifth signing of the summer and joins for an undisclosed fee. Fernandes, who spent three years at FC Utrecht either side of spells at hometown club Excelsior, moves to West Yorkshire after scoring six goals in 33 appearances last season. "Last season was amazing for me, and I was so happy to have played my part in helping Excelsior stay in the Eredivisie and achieve their goals," he told the Terriers' website. "That success has brought interest this summer, but I was determined to only entertain offers that felt right both on and off the pitch, and Huddersfield Town left me with no doubts after speaking and learning more." Fernandes joins former Excelsior team-mate Ilias Bronkhorst in joining Huddersfield this summer after the right-back signed a two-year deal earlier this month.
