A Manchester City pillar wants a move to Real Madrid, but there seems to be a major roadblock in the way

A Manchester City pillar wants a move to Real Madrid, but there seems to be a major roadblock in the way With the World Cup now complete and the 2026-27 season looming on the horizon, Rodri looms as a vital player for Manchester City for next season, if not their most important player. The Ballon d’Or-winning midfielder was one of the stars of the World Cup as he captained Spain on their run to win their second World Cup title and was named as the player of the tournament in the process. Now that the World Cup has been completed, an update on Rodri’s future plans has emerged. Manchester City’s midfield general wants a move to Real Madrid, however, there is a major roadblock standing in the way. Rodri wants a move to Real Madrid, however he may not get his dream move this summer. Speaking on his YouTube channel , Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Rodri and his future. Speaking on Rodri’s situation, Romano said: “ At the moment, Rodri has a new contract proposal on the table from Manchester City. It will now be up to Rodri to decide whether he wants to accept it or remain at Man City for one more season before potentially leaving as a free agent in 2027. ” “ Let me mention this again because many Real Madrid fans continue asking about the situation, especially after yesterday’s final and Rodri’s outstanding World Cup. Rodri dreams of playing for Real Madrid. ” “ He would love to join Real Madrid one day. From the player’s side, that opportunity remains a dream. ” As much as Rodri wants a move to Real Madrid, Fabrizio Romano revealed that there is one major roadblock standing in the way of the Manchester City midfielder’s dream move. That is Real Madrid president Florentino Perez. Romano added: “ However, at the moment, the story between Real Madrid and Rodri is blocked because of the club’s president.Florentino Perez is not convinced about moving forward for Rodri. If Florentino changes his mind this summer or next summer, I will let you know. Right now, the main obstacle is the decision of Florentino Perez. He is the person who has to make the final decision on Rodri. ” The Rodri situation could dictate what Manchester City do this summer. Based on Fabrizio Romano’s latest report on Rodri, Rodri does seem to have his heart set on a move to Real Madrid. Whether that occurs this summer or next summer when Rodri’s contract expires this summer remains to be seen. As of right now, it does look like there is little to no chance of Real Madrid making a move to sign Rodri from Manchester City this summer. That could change depending on whether Florentino Perez changes his mind on that particular move. Also, it would seem highly unlikely that City would sell such an important player this summer. However, Rodri’s future plans do have the potential to shape Manchester City’s plans for the summer transfer window. City have already signed Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest and are actively in the market for another midfielder. If Rodri were to push for a summer move, and Real Madrid did decide to pursue a move for him, City would have to look to sign a third midfielder. They will not want to be caught short in midfield if Rodri were to move. Rodri’s intentions will shape Manchester City’s summer transfer plans. There is no doubt about that. Rodri obviously desires a move to Real Madrid. Perhaps the physical demands of the Premier League and the fact that Rodri has achieved all he can for Manchester City means that he wants a new challenge. For now, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has no intention of signing Rodri. So for now, it seems like Rodri may well see out the final year of his City contract. But the situation seems fluid and could change rapidly based on how Florentino Perez operates.
