Official | William Saliba set to be out for extended period but will not undergo surgery In an official statement, Arsenal have confirmed that William Saliba (25) will not undergo surgery on his chronic back injury. Despite not needing surgery, the French international defender is set for an extended spell on the sidelines. With the prognosis of his injury now defined, the Gunners centre back will now undergo an extended rehabiliation programme ahead of his return to full fitness and first-team minutes. Saliba struggled with the injury whilst representing France at the FIFA World Cup. He missed the match against Norway and was forced off in the first half of the semi-final against Spain due to the injury. Saliba avoids surgery It was initially thought that the former Marseille loanee would have to undergo surgery on the recurring injury as he expressed the excruciating pain it was causing him. Nevertheless, after being assessed by the Premier League champions’ medical staff it has been determined that wouldn’t be the best course of action. GFFN | Liam Wraith
