Leicester City sign Aston Villa defender Mayling Leicester City have completed the signing of Aston Villa defender Sarah Mayling on a three-year deal. WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Foxes just a short time ago. It has been reported that Leicester City have paid an undisclosed fee to Aston Villa to secure the player’s services. The 29-year-old returns to Leicester City following a loan spell with the club last season. Mayling made 12 appearances for The Foxes in all competitions. Mayling has enjoyed two spells with Aston Villa which have come either side of a four-year stint across the Second City at Birmingham City. The defender has played an important role in Aston Villa’s development as a Barclays Women’s Super League side. After joining Leicester City on a permanent basis, Mayling said “I think we’re in a whole new phase now; we’re trying to rebuild the team. It’s about sticking together, embracing the challenge and going for it. “You have to be ambitious. This league is really hard to get out of, we know that, but as a squad, we want to be back in the top league so we need to use pre-season to get ready, and bring on the season.” Mayling is Leicester City’s second signing of the summer transfer window.
