As previously reported , the German goalkeeper has responded positively to Barcelona’s latest proposal, and there is growing optimism that a deal could be finalised in the coming days, bringing an end to weeks of discussions. Financial details still being finalised One of the key elements of the agreement remains the distribution of Ter Stegen’s salary. Ajax are expected to cover only a small portion of the goalkeeper’s wages, little more than 10%, with Barcelona continuing to shoulder the majority of his salary. Ter Stegen remains under contract with Barcelona until 2028, and his current earnings increased after portions of his salary were deferred in previous seasons to help the club comply with La Liga’s financial regulations and register new players. The Dutch club are already on course to reach that stage after recording an emphatic 4-1 victory away to Vojvodina in the first leg of their second qualifying round tie. Assuming they progress, Ajax are expected to face Irish side Shelbourne, who established a commanding advantage over Estonia’s Nomme Kalju. Ajax begin their Eredivisie campaign on 9 August with an away fixture against PEC Zwolle, and the club, managed by Michel, hope Ter Stegen will be available as they prepare for the start of the new season.
