Wrexham's Windass to miss Leeds test due to injury

The 32-year-old did not feature in either of the Red Dragons' summer matches against Wisla Krakow or Manchester United but is part of the 28-man squad that travelled to the United States of America. But boss Phil Parkinson has confirmed Windass will not feature in his side's fixture against the Premier League Whites at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on Sunday (00:30 BST) after suffering a setback. "Josh Windass is going to miss out," said Parkinson. "He's had a setback with his calf injury, which is a shame for Josh but that is part and parcel of football. "Apart from that, everybody is ready." Windass ended the 2025-26 season - his debut campaign at Wrexham - as the club's top scorer with 17 goals across all competitions, seven of which came in his final eight appearances of the Championship season. "Like we said before the Man United game, it's difficult to fully predict the personnel and the shape of the team, so we'll touch on that and I'm sure they will on us, but for us it's more about our development and our progression as a team in this game," added the Wrexham manager. "It's very much the same approach – we will respect and look at Leeds' strengths but we want to make sure we take the positives from the United game and look to replicate that." "It's amazing. We never take it for granted and we feel very privileged to be here," he said of the tour. "A lot of the players haven't been on a US tour with us, as we changed a lot of them last summer, and it's great to be able to bring them here. "The facilities we have trained at have been fantastic these last few days, and obviously we're going to another great stadium. Why would you not be looking forward to a day like that?"
