Vozinha, Cape Verde's breakout World Cup star, joins Chile's Colo-Colo
Weeks after helping Cape Verde reach the Round of 32 at the 2026 World Cup , star goalkeeper Vozinha has found a new club. On Friday, Chilean side Colo-Colo announced it has signed the 40-year-old, whose actual name is Josimar Dias, to a reported 18-month free agent contract. “Welcome. Vozinha made his mark quickly during Cape Verde’s first-ever World Cup. During the team’s opening match draw against eventual-champion Spain, he made seven saves and became the oldest goalkeeper to record a shutout in a tournament debut. That performance made him a worldwide name, which resulted in his Instagram following skyrocketing from roughly 50,000 followers to nearly 14 million. As of Saturday morning, that total is now at 29.5 million . In helping the debutants to a third straight group-stage draw and a place in the knockout round, Vozinha recorded his second clean sheet of the tournament with three saves against Saudi Arabia. That set up a Round of 32 clash with Lionel Messi and reigning champion Argentina., in what was one of the matches of the tournament, Vozinha stopped eight shots, including four on Messi during a 3-2 defeat that ended Cape Verde’s memorable run.
