Juventus’ Loïs Openda set to join Lyon

Juventus’ Loïs Openda set to join Lyon Juventus’ Loïs Openda (26) is set to join Olympique Lyonnais, according to Sky Sport . Having signed for the Bianconeri from RB Leipzig for a fee of nearly €43m last summer, the Belgian is expected to complete a move to Les Gones in the coming hours on a loan deal with an option to buy. This departure marks the premature end of Openda’s Italian adventure, with his spell in Serie A proving to be a failure, having scored just two goals in 34 appearances across all competitions during the 2025-26 season. In France, the striker will return to a league he knows well, having shone for RC Lens in 2022-23 (21 goals and four assists in 42 appearances), and where he hopes to rediscover his form and return to the level he has shown in recent years. A notable absentee from Rudi Garcia’s squad for the 2026 World Cup, Openda could also use his move to Ligue 1 as an opportunity to re-establish himself in the Belgian national team, for whom he has made 33 appearances (scoring three goals).
