Borussia Dortmund boss comments on failed transfers of Konstantinos Karetsas and Said El Mala

Borussia Dortmund boss comments on failed transfers of Konstantinos Karetsas and Said El Mala Speaking to Sky Germany , Borussia Dortmund sporting director Nils Ole Book has commented on the frustrations associated with his club’s summer search for more attacking assistance. The newly appointed BVB personnel executive’s first summer transfer window hasn’t gone particularly smoothly. A rigorous effort to acquire Greek attacker Konstantinos Karetsas failed to result in a deal. A bid for 1. FC Köln starlet Said El Mala met with an immediate rejection. Book did manage to wrap up proceedings begun under predecessor Sebastian Kehl and complete the signing of Brazilian defender Kaua Prates. In addition, central defender Joane Gadou has been added to the BVB squad. One attacker, Justin Lerma, arrived under Book’s watch. The 18-year-old nevertheless remains more of a long-term prospect. Nils Ole Book on the two failed transfers “The amount of misinformation in recent days has already been quite substantial,” Book – as relayed by transfermarkt.de – told Sky . “Of course, we would have liked to sign an attacking player by now. In the final analysis, however, one must pay attention to the laws of the market and move with the times.” “We know what we want: two attacking players [to replace the departed Julian Brandt and Karim Adeyemi ],” Book continued. “We’re very happy that we’ve been able to keep the core of this team together. “We know we still want to make some moves,” Book concluded. “We still want to make the right moves. It’s not just about sheer speed. Timing is critical.” GGFN  |  Peter Weis
