Ex-Swansea stopper Fabianski announces retirement

[Getty Images] Former Swansea City goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski has retired from professional football at the age of 41. Fabianski, who made 150 appearances for the Swans between 2014 and 2018, has hung up his gloves after eight seasons at West Ham. The Polish international, who won 57 caps, joined the Swans on a free transfer from Arsenal and was voted supporters' player of the year in 2018. "Some goodbyes are harder than others. Today is one of those days," Fabianski wrote on social media. "After so many unforgettable years, the time has come for me to close the most beautiful chapter of my life. "I have made the difficult decision to retire from football as a goalkeeper. "To every coach who believed in me, every teammate who fought alongside me, every club that gave me the opportunity to wear its badge with pride, every supporter who stood behind me, and most importantly, my family - thank you," his statement added. Fabianski won the FA Cup at Arsenal and Conference League for West Ham.
