Eintracht Frankfurt set to conclude €4.5m purchase of Portuguese centre back Otávio (20)

Eintracht Frankfurt set to conclude €4.5m purchase of Portuguese centre back Otávio (20) Kicker currently confirms a Sky report concerning a new Eintracht Frankfurt signing. The German magazine reports that Eintracht are on the verge of signing “Otávio” Manoel Galdino Fernandes away from Portuguese outfit Estrela Amadora. The 20-year-old central defender will cost the Bundesliga club €4.5m. Otávio’s introduction may still be delayed, however, as final contractual details must be clarified. When it comes to the matter of summer acquisitions, the Bundesliga’s Hessian representatives have had a busy week indeed. Markus Krösche and the SGE administrative team remain serious about rebuilding the back tactical axes. New midfield signing Noël Aséko shall receive a more defensive-minded partner soon. Otávio shall serve as the first summer signing geared towards the much-needed revamp of the central defensive corps. Who is Otávio? Otávio began his career with Atlético-MT before passing through Camboriú and Botafogo. He joined Estrela in the summer of 2024 and subsequently progressed through virtually every level of the Portuguese club’s structure. The defender initially featured for the C team before earning minutes with the B and U23 sides. He later captained the U23s and established himself as a first-team option. The youngster recorded one assist in 22 Portuguese first-division appearances last season, in the process raising his estimated market value from €500,000 to €1.5m in the March 2026 Transfermarkt update. Given that 18 of Otávio’s 22 appearances were starts, and that he went the full 90 minutes in seven of his last 10 starting XI appearances, one can safely assume he is undervalued.
