Blades in talks with Leicester over Souttar

Sheffield United are in talks with Leicester City over a deal to bring Australian international defender Harry Souttar back to the club. Blades manager Chris Wilder has confirmed discussions are ongoing with the Foxes to sign the 27-year-old, who spent the 2024-25 season on loan at Bramall Lane. "He's one that obviously has got history with us and we have been linked with him as well," Wilder told BBC Radio Sheffield . "We've already had conversations with Leicester about taking him, so the conversations will be ongoing. "He's a player that obviously I like and he had a great time on the pitch for us and off the pitch with the supporters. They rated him and they valued him." Wilder said he "100%" expects incomings to arrive before Sheffield United's competitive season starts in the EFL Cup first round at Mansfield Town on 9 August. The 58-year-old has identified centre-back and the wide positions as a priority for reinforcements, with the club also in talks with SK Brann winger Rabbi Matondo, who has featured in pre-season for United. Centre-back Mark McGuinness is not part of Wilder's plans for the 2026-27 season and the club are trying to offload the 27-year-old, while fellow defender Nils Zatterstrom is expected to go out on loan.
