Harvey Barnes signs new long-term contract with Newcastle United Newcastle United have confirmed Harvey Barnes has signed a new long-term contract.  The 28-year-old still had two years left on his original deal, but the club have convinced him to extend his stay at St James’ Park.  “It feels great to sign this new contract before the new season starts,” Barnes said. “It has been an amazing journey so far and I’m delighted to continue that.” Barnes has been an important first-team player for Newcastle since joining them in 2023 from Leicester City.  He has made 120 appearances across all competitions, scoring 30 goals in the process.  The England international enjoyed an impressive campaign last season when the team’s other forwards failed to deliver.  Barnes struck 16 times and assisted further six in 57 appearances across all competitions.  The 28-year-old is an elite winger who is known for his explosive acceleration, direct running and clinical finishing.  Barnes was linked with a move to Aston Villa, who are looking to add new forwards after selling Morgan Rogers to Chelsea in a record £117 million deal .  His decision to sign a new contract is a major boost for Newcastle. They have already lost two of their biggest stars in Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali to Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur respectively.  Bruno Guimaraes is attracting huge interest from Arsenal but the Tyneside club are adamant the Brazilian will not be sold in t his transfer window .  Guimaraes still has two years left on his contract, but he has told the club he wants to join Arsenal.  Stats from Transfermarkt
