Chiellini had emerged as a possible candidate for the Italy national team technical director role following Paolo Maldini and Leonardo’s resignation on Monday. Malagò’s main candidate remains Roberto Mancini, whom the FIGC President is expected to propose as Italy’s new head coach during the federal meeting currently taking place.
