Bayern Munich boss praises Vincent Kompany, jokes about ‘master plan’ behind appointment Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen joked about the unexpected success of head coach Vincent Kompany whilst speaking at the Munich Press Club on Tuesday. Having already addressed the sensational transfer rumors surrounding superstars Michael Olise and Luis Diaz with a sardonic twist , Dreesen remained in a playful mood.  Dreesen on Bayern Munich’s “Master Plan” with Vincent Kompany “It was all part of our master plan,” Dreesen noted as the room erupted with laughter. “We spoke with, what, seven other candidates [before choosing Kompany]? No, [in all seriousness] that’s what fills one with such incredible happiness. One gets that from other people too. No one who ever came to me to speak about Vincent Kompany ever said that that he was [overly] critical or negative. “It was a surprise to us too,” Dreesen continued. “And the second point [I’d like to make] is that Kompany – and this is what makes me happy – is that Vincent Kompany is a capable and humble person who has a kick-ass perspective on the game. Just as he demonstrated himself as a world class defender at a top club like Manchester City, he has fighting spirit, ambition, stamina, and discipline. “He has everything one needs to hang around in professional football,” Dreesen concluded. “Despite all of this, he takes a back seat and gives the team priority. That’s what people love. He plays attacking football and never lets up, even when the team is up 4-0.
