Webster announces retirement

Bromley defender Byron Webster has announced his retirement from professional football. The Leeds-born player, 39, called time on his Bromley career after helping secure promotion to League One as champions at the end of last season after playing in 31 matches during the campaign. But he has now brought the curtain down for good on a career in which he has made 577 appearances in the league since starting out with York in November 2004. The defender played six full seasons with Bromley and will be remembered for his part in their rise to the third tier. Webster scored the winning penalty in the shootout when the club achieved promotion to the English Football League (EFL) in the National League play-off final at Wembley in 2024. Bromley's rise to the third tier, achieved with promotion last season, was their second promotion in three seasons. All the latest Bromley news
