Premier Leauge club in direct talks with Real Madrid over 21-year-old academy gem’s transfer

Premier Leauge club in direct talks with Real Madrid over 21-year-old academy gem’s transfer Real Madrid academy star Cesar Palacios appears to be in high demand this summer, and a departure from the club appears inevitable at this point in the window. Cesc Fabregas’ Como were thought to be in pole position to sign the 21-year-old attacking midfielder. The move was seen as a favourable one for the player especially given how the Serie A club have nurtured Real Madrid talents in recent years. Alvaro Arbeloa, however, has been pushing for his recruitment ever since he was named the manager of Fulham and rates the prospect highly. Now, the Premier League side appear to have taken a step forward. In direct talks Indeed, as reported by Fabrizio Romano now, Fulham are in direct club-to-club talks with Real Madrid over Palacios’ move and seriously intend to see it through this summer. Talks are currently taking place regarding the formula of the deal as Real Madrid’s approval is seen to be crucial for it to go through. As the club have done with most academy prospect departures in recent times, Los Blancos will likely push to retain some leverage over the player’s rights – either in the form of a sell-on clause, a buy-back clause or a percentage of his rights. A long-standing connection Before becoming the manager of Real Madrid’s first-team, Arbeloa was the coach of the Castilla side and worked closely with Palacios during his time there. Jose Mourinho, however, is not one who counts heavily on home-grown talent and it is unlikely that Palacios will see any prominence at Real Madrid should he opt to stay and fight for a place in the first-team. In that sense, reuniting with his former mentor would be a sensible move in his career trajectory, at least in terms of furthering his presence and making his name known. A lot will likely be decided in the coming weeks, especially with even Real Madrid being open to a sale.
