Monaco take interest in Cruz Azul’s Erik Lira AS Monaco are reportedly interested in CD Cruz Azul’s Erik Lira (26), according to L’Équipe . Having made four appearances for Mexico at the World Cup, the midfielder could move to France to compensate for the loss of Aladji Bamba (20), transferred to Newcastle United, and the likely departure of Lamine Camara (22), who is also being courted during this transfer window. Although no concrete progress has been made on this matter as yet, Monaco’s management are said to have made enquiries regarding the possibility of finalising the deal. Having come through the ranks at UNAM Pumas, Lira joined Cruz Azul in January 2022, quickly establishing himself as a key member of the squad, to the point where he now wears the captain’s armband.
