Scotland striker Shankland named Rangers captain
Lawrence Shankland succeeds James Tavernier as Rangers skipper [SNS] Lawrence Shankland has been named the new captain of Rangers, just two months after joining the club from Hearts. The 30-year-old Scotland striker also wore the armband at his last club, where he scored 88 goals in 171 games before departing in May. The boyhood Rangers fan succeeds previous long-serving captain James Tavernier, who led the Ibrox side to a Europa League final and won the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup and League Cup during his 11 years in Govan.
