Reject €30m: Liverpool could have a €90m star next season
Reject €30m: Liverpool could have a €90m star next season Liverpool must reject €30m. Do so and they'll have a €90m star under Andoni Iraola next season. Liverpool are reportedly considering plenty of deals right now. The World Cup will naturally delay a lot of them - the usual domino effect is on hold while players postpone decisions on their future. But that doesn't mean that certain deals aren't quite close. One that refuses to go away is Curtis Jones to Inter, a deal that was first mooted back in January. The Athletic claims it's still very much a possibility. Liverpool would apparently accept €30m for the midfielder as he's entering the final year of his contract and doesn't currently look like re-signing. But the thing is, Jones almost certainly wants to stay . He just wants to stay and feel valued ( something their asking price fails to demonstrate ). A new head coach provides a new opportunity, though. Jones may well find his feet under Andoni Iraola far better than he did Arne Slot, who refused to regularly use the Scouser in his preferred positions. Doing so would cause his valuation to skyrocket. Far, far beyond the €30m suggested now. Bournemouth's Alex Scott is apparently worth £80m . Matheus Fernandes is valued at £85m by West Ham United . Now, Jones is older than both players at 25 but still someone whose prime years are still to come. There can be little doubt that Jones could be worth in that region if he had regular football under his belt. Liverpool should take the chance. Don't sell Jones now and give him a year - new contract or not - to find his feet under Iraola. If things go the way we expect them to, they'll end up with a far, far more valuable player and an excellent season to show for it. And importantly, a star who would almost certainly renew his contract long-term. Curtis Jones: Situation Summary Liverpool Campaign and Stats As of 9 June 2026, Curtis Jones remains a Liverpool player, though his future at Anfield is currently the subject of intense transfer speculation. The 25-year-old English midfielder concluded the 2025/26 campaign having made 34 Premier League appearances, during which he registered one goal and two assists. Despite maintaining consistent involvement and high passing accuracy throughout the season, he was frequently deployed as a makeshift right-back under former manager Arne Slot rather than in his preferred midfield role. Jones also suffered individual disappointment after missing out on a place in England's final squad for the 2026 World Cup. Transfer Negotiations and Inter Interest With his contract set to enter its final 12 months, Jones is widely expected to depart Merseyside this summer in search of regular first-team football in his natural position. Inter Milan have formalised their interest, with sporting director Piero Ausilio publicly confirming the club is "paying attention" to the midfielder. While advanced negotiations are underway, a deal remains stalled, with Liverpool holding out for a valuation of approximately £35 million—a figure Inter is currently attempting to negotiate downward.
