Roma make progress for Wolfsburg’s Kostantinos Koulierakis

Roma make progress for Wolfsburg’s Kostantinos Koulierakis Serie A side Roma have signed Santiago Castro from Bologna but haven’t stopped making in-roads over other deals in the window, Kostantinos Koulierakis emerging as a major target. La Gazzetta dello Sport confirm what other outlets have already reported. But they make it clear that talks between Roma and Wolfsburg for the defender are now on.  The move is going in the right direction, with Inter having made enquiries about the 22-year-old in January. The German club’s price tag was high in January but to relegation, it has come down to just over €15 million. This is making things easier for Roma, who now feel that they need a defender, after having strengthened their attack by signing Castro. Alfredo Pedulla has reported along similar lines, clarifying that Crystal Palace are also interested in Koulierakis. But Roma are prepared to push forward and seal the deal. The defender’s valuation, for Pedulla, is at €20m but Roma can offer bonuses that seal the deal. Possible Ndicka replacement Technically, Koulierakis replaced Tottenham-bound Micky Van De Ven at Wolfsburg and a move for him is excellent. He could act as a long-term replacement for Evan Ndicka, who could be sold at some point, as his exit hands Roma a major capital gain because he joined for free. Kaustubh Pandey – GIFN
