In a recent post on X , Calciomercato journalist Alessio Lento claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are in the mix to land Benfica keeper Anatoliy Trubin this summer. It has been mentioned that Spurs would have to compete with Aston Villa and Juventus in the race to sign the Ukraine international. Trubin’s Solid Campaign In Portuguese Football Trubin enjoyed a good run of form at the Portuguese club in the previous campaign as he was responsible for putting in a series of solid performances in goal for them in Liga Portugal. The 24-year-old conceded 43 goals and kept 21 clean sheets in 50 matches for Benfica last season across all fronts. The Ukrainian talent is currently among the most talented keepers in Liga Portugal. Hence, it is no wonder that Spurs are in the running to recruit him this off-season. His current contract at the Portuguese club will run out in the summer of 2028, which could make it tough for Tottenham to sign him on a cut-price deal later this year. He is a solid handler of the ball and can use his quick reflexes to make a few top saves at the back for his team. Standing at 1.99m, the Ukraine international is a commanding presence inside his penalty box and doesn’t mind coming out of his lines to clear the danger when needed. Trubin has proven himself to be a consistent performer in Liga Portugal. However, the jury is out on whether he can replicate his good form in the Premier League if Spurs manage to sign him this off-season. We can expect Trubin to improve the quality of Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi’s first XI. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the North London club next season. Furthermore, Trubin would serve as a good replacement for Guglielmo Vicario, who struggled to find consistency for Tottenham last season. All in all, De Zerbi would be wise to get him on board later this year.
